The Institute of Cotton Research (CCRI) is the only national research institute and research center specializing in cotton in China. It was founded in Beijing in August 1957, and moved to Anyang, Henan, in March 1958. Centered on basic and applied research, CCRI organizes and presides over major national cotton research projects addressing significant science and technology-related issues in cotton production. The institute coordinates international cooperation and exchanges about cotton research, cultivates high-level talent to advance cotton technology, and facilitates the transfer of new technologies to farmland. In addition, CCRI is responsible for the editing and publishing of the journals Cotton Science and China Cotton.

Thus far, CCRI has 49 MS and 36 PhD, including 1 academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 national graded expert, 8 experts enjoyed special government allowance, 11 provincial graded experts, and 3 national talents of New Century Talents Project.

66 awards have been granted to CCRI in the past decades by provinces, ministry or the nation, of which 22 were granted by Chinese Central Government and 4 of them were first awards. Between 2008 and 2012, CCRI released 20 new cotton varieties and obtained 33 invention patents and eight utility models, as well as five software copyrights. In addition, CCRI has sequenced the cotton genome and conducted preliminary studies of the evolutionary mechanism and related functional genes based on cotton genome.

The long-term strategic development goal of CCRI is to reach the international leading level in cotton applied research, to reach the international advanced level in basic research and to participate in international competition in industrial development.

Types of Target Talents	Research Area	The reqiurements
Type A	Cutivation physiology	1. The applicant is supposed to be enthusiastic about cotton research, possess a high degree of academic integrity and scientific spirit, and have a strong sense of teamwork. 2. The applicant must be familiar with and well-versed in the latest developments in the corresponding field, and is supposed to have solid speciality knowledge and remarkable academic achievement by chairing or joining in (as first  3 backbones) national level project. In addition, the applicant is also supposed to have innovative vision and strategic thought about their disciplines, and an ability to lead the academic team to international advanced level. 3. Full time, with good health conditions. 4. Two recommendation letters from academic experts (at least 1 from overseas expert) in related research area are required. 5. Under 40 years of age, with Ph.D. degree (Degree certificate is required for foreign education), more than 3 consecutive years’ oversea working experience in related research area, and publications in core journals (refer to directory of SCI core journals of CAAS), or possess major invention patent, mastering key technologies, etc.
Type D	Bioinformatics	1. The applicant is supposed to be enthusiastic about cotton research, possess a high degree of academic integrity and scientific spirit, and have a strong sense of teamwork. 2. The applicants must be familiar with and well-versed in the latest developments in the corresponding field, and is supposed to have solid speciality knowledge and remarkable academic achievement by chairing or joining in (as first 3 backbones) national level project. In addition, the applicant is also supposed to have innovative vision and strategic thought about their disciplines, and an ability to lead the academic team to international advanced level. 3. Full time, under 45 years of age and with good health conditions 4. Doctoral degree is generally required. The applicant with domestic degree at least needs to have the title of associate professor or other equivalent titles. For applicant receiving doctoral degree from foreign countries, at least 2 consecutive years’ oversea working experience in related area, and publications in core journals (refer to directory of SCI core journals of CAAS ) as the first author (or possessing major invention patent, or mastering key technologies) is required.

Based on the specific disciplines and other actual needs, the institute will offer up to 1 million Yuan (RMB) and 1.5 million Yuan (RMB) as research fund to Type A young talents and Type D young talents, respectively. For type A young talents, after reviewed and verified by CAAS, a special fund of 2 million Yuan (RMB) will then be granted by CAAS based on the principle of merit.

Large-scale instruments are overall arranged by CCRI. Type A talents and Type D talents can get 1 million yuan (RMB) and 0.5 million Yuan (RMB) for specific instrument and equipment purchase, respectively.

In addition to the pay package (salary, benefits and medical care) at CAAS, Type A talents and Type D talents can also have the allowance amounts to 100,000 Yuan (RMB) and 80,000 Yuan (RMB) in the first year, respectively. From the second year of employment, allowance will depend on the results of annual assessment. The evaluation result can be classified to excellent, good, qulified and disqualified. With the evaluation result of good, the initial allowance will be paid (100,000 Yuan (RMB) for A and 80,000 Yuan (RMB) for D), and with the evaluation result of excellent, an additional 50,000 Yuan (RMB) allowance will be paid (the evaluation is independent among years).

Relocation allowance equivalent to the value of 100 m² apartment (according to the commercial housing price of last year in working area, the total amount will not exceed 1 million Yuan(RMB)) or the priority to purchase institute-built policy commodity house with welfare will be offered to Type A talents. The relocation allowance of 300,000 Yuan(RMB) will be offered to Type D talents.

2. Office of personnel will review and appraise the eligibility of each applicant.

3. Oral defense and examination on those recommended candidates will be proceeded by institute evaluation committee. And final decisions will be made based on Secret ballot.

4. After public notice without objection, candidate(s) will submit documents to the office of personnel as record.

5. After the records have been reviewed and verified, the candidates should sign a contract with CCRI, and any part-time job will be not allowed in any other institutes.
