The MARA Plant Eco-Environmental Safety Testing Center (Anyang) has recently passed the qualification re-assessment for crop seed quality testing institutions organized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Henan Province. It has been awarded the Certificate of Competence for Crop Seed Quality Testing Institutions of the People's Republic of China (CASL) and is authorized to use the CASL mark in its testing reports.

The center is a ministerial-level quality inspection institution established on the basis of the Cotton Research Institute of CAAS. It has successively passed metrology certification by the national certification and accreditation authority, institutional assessment by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and qualification assessment as a crop seed quality testing institution, and holds the CMA, CATL and CASL certificates. It first obtained the CASL certificate in November 2014, passed its first re-assessment in August 2020, and has now passed its second re-assessment.

In variety identity and transgenic purity testing, the center covers cotton, rice, maize, wheat, soybean, rapeseed, potato, barley, sorghum and fruit and vegetable crops. In environmental safety testing, it can provide services for safety certificate applications for transgenic cotton, rice, maize, wheat and soybean, covering target traits, survival competitiveness, pollen viability, effects on biodiversity, effects on non-target organisms, soil physical and chemical properties and soil microorganisms. It also conducts trait-consistency testing for variety registration of derived varieties of insect-resistant and herbicide-tolerant transgenic cotton, maize and soybean.
