Recently, Ma Xiongfeng, Deputy Director of the Institute of Cotton Research of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and his delegation were invited to visit relevant agricultural research institutions in Uzbekistan, achieving new results in strengthening friendly relations, deepening cooperation areas, and exploring cooperation opportunities.

During the symposium with Tashkent Agrarian University, the two sides reached cooperation intentions in conducting expert visits, building several areas of China's cotton planting technology experimental demonstration bases, jointly training graduate students, and enhancing cooperation and exchange between the two sides. The delegation reached an agreement with the Uzbekistan Institute of Cotton Breeding, Seed Production and Agricultural Technology on the joint application of the Belt and Road China-Uzbekistan cotton joint laboratory, the application of international cooperation projects, the exchange of experts for training, the promotion of germplasm resources exchange, and the construction of China's cotton science and technology demonstration park. Namazov, Deputy Director of the Uzbekistan Cotton Institute, stated that on the basis of the local experimental site in Tashkent, we will jointly build a China-Uzbekistan experimental demonstration base and introduce Chinese cotton planting technology. Based on this, we will carry out cooperation in cotton breeding, plant protection, cultivation and other technical aspects and share excellent germplasm resources between the two countries, identify and excavat excellent genes related to high-yield and high-quality traits to innovate and integrate suitable cotton high-yield and high-quality cultivation technology systems in the region. Both parties have agreed that Ravshanov, the director of the Uzbekistan Cotton Breeding, Seed Production and Agricultural Technology Research Institute, and other experts will be invited to visit the Institute of Cotton Research of CAASin September.

This visit further promoted agricultural scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between the the Institute of Cotton Research of CAAS and Central Asian countries, laying a solid foundation for conducting "cotton diplomacy" and optimizing international cooperation in Central Asian cotton science and technology.
