CottonMind1.0
The Institute of Cotton Research of CAAS, together with Western Agricultural Research Center of CAAS, officially released CottonMind 1.0, the world’s first domain-specific large language model dedicated to cotton research and industry. This milestone marks a new era of deep integration of AI, scientific research and field production for China’s cotton industry. CottonMind1.0 adopts a dual-terminal design: web platform and WeChat mini-program for research innovation and field production respectively. The web platform serves researchers as a cloud intelligent research workstation integrating AI literature retrieval, accelerated document reading and knowledge graph visualization. The mini-program acts as a portable agricultural expert for cotton farmers, providing AI Q&A, photo-based pest diagnosis and online expert consultation, breaking time and space limits of traditional agricultural extension services. The whole platform supports multi-language services including Chinese, English, Uyghur and Uzbek, satisfying local needs of cotton farmers in Xinjiang and building digital bridges for international cotton research collaboration. According to project lead Yang Zuoren, CottonMind1.0 has integrated 41,680 global Chinese and English research papers, more than 2000 patents and national standards, 559 professional books and 1806 registered cotton variety records. Its knowledge scope covers gene function, trait regulation, variety breeding, cultivation management, pest and disease control, cottonseed processing and industrial economics. Oriented to researchers, agronomists, cotton growers and industrial practitioners, it supports intelligent Q&A, research assistance and digital industrial services for cotton.
